This plug-in is a Nyquist Macro (it uses Audacity’s Scripting commands to modify the project). As is standard for Nyquist Macros, the plug-in will appear in the “Tools” menu when installed and enabled.
I developed this plug-in to address the absence of this feature in Audacity.
Usage
The plug-in acts on the track that has focus, so the normal way to apply is:
- Click on the track from which you wish to remove gaps
- Select “Delete Clip Gaps” from the Tools menu.
Note that the plug-in only acts on one track at a time.
Is there a way to use this tool to remove .300 milliseconds in between audio of the same track? some audios for a program (.mp3) have too much space in between pauses, word to word, and removing the .200 to .400 milliseconds in between each word or sentence, will help to know how this can be achieved without moving the cursor or selecting each space to delete one at a time.
If it is a continuous recording with silences between songs, use the “Truncate Silence” effect to reduce or remove the silences.
I’ve installed it I think.
Can’t get it to work though (Audacity 3.7)
When I select the track and then click Tools I get these options:
‘Nyquist plugin installer…’
‘Nyquist prompt… ‘
I tried inputting ‘Delete gap clips’ in the prompt but unsurprisingly that didn’t work.
How to use (total n00b here)
The plug-in needs to be installed into Audacity. Instructions are in the Audacity manual here: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/nyquist_plug_in_installer.html
I just tried this and I was confused about this too. Once I closed audacity and re-opened it, this fixed my issue
Doesn’t seem to work for whatever reasons
I’ve checked in the latest Audacity 3.7.1 and it works fine here. What part is not working?
Hey Steve, Thank you so much for sharing this clips, that are extremely helpful for me at this moment.
Could you please make one other version, to:
1. firstly “Delete Clips Gaps”,
2. then “Insert 2 seconds Gaps inbetween each Orgininal Clips”
I am truly grateful for your help!!!
Regards,
Tom
I think a better approach would be to first render the track so that gaps become silences, then use Audacity’s “Truncate Silence” to reduce all of the gaps to a nominal length, then use “Extend Silences” (https://forum.audacityteam.org/t/extend-silences/34612) to achieve the desired length.
